Dr. Michael is the Director of the Arab Barometer and received the
American Political Science Association Aaron Wildavsky Award for the Best
Dissertation in the field of Religion and Politics. His work on Arab public
opinion, political Islam and political parties has been published in
Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Conflict Resolution and the
Journal of Democracy, and his research on data fabrication has been covered by
Science. He is a regular contributor to the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage blog
and his analysis has appeared in Foreign Policy and The Conversation.
Previously, he has served as a research fellow at Harvard’s Belfer Center for
Science and International Affairs and a research associate at the Pew Research
Center.
